A Day of Rest and Rejuvenation

Today we got to sleep in and at least most people used the opportunity to not get up until 6:00 am. After breakfast Mike Ferguson spoke to the combined teams and shared with us his personal story of how God brought him and his wife into full-time minisry with WGO as the organization's President. He challenged us that God desires obedience before sacrifice. While obedience can often lead to sacrifice, God does not delight in sacrifices that are offered without obedience.

In our own team devotions today, Matt Gillis Student Minsitry Pastor at Pilgrim Covenant shared his personal story of growing up in a Christian home, but how a tragedy in his family as a young boy caused him to lash out at God in anger. However, through the loving acceptance and care of his youth group as a high school student, Matt came to understand that while God is in control of everything that doesn't mean God is the author of evil and tragedy. God drew Matt back to himself and showed him that He is the source of "every good and perfect gift." Matt's story clearly touched the hearts of each and every team member. His testimony will not be soon forgotten.

There were three choices for people today:

• Stay at the Mission House and catch up on some much needed rest
• Visit Rancho Ebenezer where the WGO ministry cares for 30+ at risk children
• Visit Parque Naciones Unidas de Picacho, a national park with a towering statue of Jesus overlooking Tegucigalpa) and Valle de Angeles (Valley of the Angels) a community of 100+ shops that sell Honduran craft products.

Members of both team A and B chose from these options and everyone enjoyed their time of rest.


As the team prepares to begin the second clinic site here are some thoughts from our team member Mel...we have such a hard working group of people that has formed such a great, strong team.  The medical needs of the people are many but they are gracious for anything we do, overwhelming at times for us, but our God is good !  We have touched many lives here and look forward to two more days in the field. Please continue to hold our team in your prayers.

Tomorrow we will be at Iglesia Dios Fuertes, the church where we worshipped on Sunday.
